Description: Clocks- 3 (Three): (1) Jonathan Burr, Lexington, Mass., "Half Column and Splat" shelf clock with a 30 hour time and strike wooden works movement ("groaner") in a mahogany case, c1835. (2) Seth Thomas Clock Co., Thomaston, Conn., "Cornice and Column" shelf clock with an 8 day weight driven time and strike brass lyre movement in a rosewood case with tortoise shell columns with gilt caps and bases, c1870; (3) Riley Whiting, Winchester, Conn., "Half Column and Splat" shelf clock with a 30 hour time and strike wooden works movement in a mahogany case, c1835.
Condition Report: (1) The splat, chimneys and returns are missing. The finish is dark. The door glasses are original but the mirror has deteriorated. The painted dial has darkened and the movement has only the hour hand. No weights or pendulum bob. Ht. 31.25in. (2) The case retains some original finish but has veneer chips in multiple locations. The dial has been repainted. The hands are original. The movement is signed. The door glasses are period. No weights. Ht. 32.25in. (3) The case has been refinished. The painted dial is showing wear. The hands are original. Both door glasses are original. The splat is a replacement. No pendulum bob. Ht. 33in.
