Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. An elaborately decorated standing pottery flat, modeled in a style referred to as "gingerbread" for obvious reasons. The figure possesses a characteristic triangular head, pantomime-like pose, and expressive visage comprised of a long protruding nose and a gentle incised smile. This noble elite dons a 'beaded' headband, pierced ears for suspending ornaments, a 'beaded' pectoral, armbands, and a fanciful loin cloth. Nice manganese deposits and root marks to boot. Size: 4.5" W x 7.5" H (11.4 cm x 19 cm)
