Formed in 1872, from elements of the Banque de Paris (formed Paris, 1868) and the Banque de Crédit et de Dépôts des Pays-Bas (formed in Holland, 1863). It was successful from the beginning, both as a 'banque d'affaires' and in general banking. It is the forerunner of the Paribas. The shares, designed by Lesache, shows the coats of arms of Paris and the Netherlands in a fine border of arabesques, and underprint of the arms of the bank - a lady Mercury, with, again, the arms of the two countries. An impressive collection of scripophily from this important bank. We believe most of certificates to be printer proofs.
