Description: Continental Currency
Popular "Marbled Border" Rarity Twenty Dollars of the May 1775 First Continental Congress Paper Money Issue
Continental Congress. May 10, 1775. Twenty Dollars. "Marbled Border" Rectangular Paper Unique Type, Extremely Fine.
Fr. CC-9. This classic Revolutionary War, "Key" First Continental Congress Twenty Dollars issued note is essential to any historical American Paper Money collection. Perfectly centered, with four full margins present on both the face and back which is rare on this denomination, making this note particularly attractive. It's unique typeset rectangular design is printed on a special "Marbled Border" paper at the left edge of the face side that was provided to the Continental Congress by Benjamin Franklin. Clean in appearance having bright special paper and vivid eye appeal. Apparent restorations are noted as splits along the sealed vertical centerfold area are expertly conserved. Signed by Joseph Sims, Jr. Overall, one of the nicest examples for boldness of print quality with great front and back centering on any "Marbled Border" Continental Congress issued note we have seen. This design type was also chosen to adorn the cover of the 5th edition of Eric Newman's classic reference, "The Early Paper Money of America." An excellent, high quality example for display.
