Réunion de quatre billets autographes signées à Alfred de Vigny
[Paris, 21 octobre 1845, 3 février 1846, 4 et 11 janvier 1847]. Ens. 4 p. in-8 (dimensions diverses).

Ces quatre billets sont parmi les seules traces écrites directes des relations précoces qu'entretinrent Delphine Gay (devenue en 1831 madame Émile de Girardin) et Alfred de Vigny. Fille de la femme de lettres Sophie Gay, dont on connaît une lettre à Alfred de Vigny conservée à la Bibliothèque nationale de France, elle publia ses premiers poèmes dans la Muse française à dix-neuf ans et le Cénacle tomba sous le charme de celle qu'on appelait couramment "la Muse", à commencer par sa mère. C'est à cette époque que se développe une intrigue amoureuse entre les deux jeunes poètes jusqu'à ce que la mère d'Alfred lui demande de mettre un terme à ce marivaudage qui le mettait en danger de se mésallier. Le mariage de l'un puis de l'autre donnèrent à leurs relations un ton plus amical qui ne se démentit pas. "Vous êtes venu me voir le seul jour de l'année où je suis sortie. J'étais au Théâtre français ; on y lisait Cléopâtre. Tâchez d'être libre mercredi soir, c'est-à-dire demain et venez me consoler de cette aimable visite perdue. " ([3 février 1846]).

Alfred de VIGNY. 1797-1863. Brouillon autographe d'un texte écrit par Vigny peu après les funérailles de Delphine de Girardin, morte le 29 juin 1855 (5 p. in-folio, précédées par une page portant la mention "Journal - Souvenirs") : "Une mort très prompte vient d'enlever en huit jours cette femme d'esprit, belle et bonne, à qui il n'a manqué pour être complètement digne et plus parfaitement honorée qu'une autre mère et un mariage différent". Ce texte fut publié par Jean Sangnier en annexe des Mémoires inédits.
On joint en outre une lettre d'Émile de Girardin (1806-1881) à Alfred de Vigny le priant de lui "faire remettre son discours d'aussi bonne heure que possible afin que l'on ait le temps de le réimprimer" ([Paris, 29 janvier 1846] ; 1 p. in-8 à l'en-tête du journal La Presse - le discours en question était celui de la réception de Vigny sous la Coupole que Girardin voulait publier dans le quotidien qu'il avait fondé dix ans plus tôt).
Quelques déchirures et pliures marginales. Quelques brunissures et trous d'épingles. Une lettre un peu salie.
