Description: DEWEY, GEORGE. Photograph Signed and Inscribed, "To Col. [John] Schuyler Crosby from his friend / and comrade George Dewey," 3/4-length portrait, showing him standing in admiral's ceremonial dress with hands resting on the hilt of his sword. Inscribed on the mount, below the image. 8 1/2x5 1/2 inches (image), 9 1/4x7 inches overall; marked mirroring and staining to edges and dark areas of portrait, some scattered cracking to emulsion, closed short tear in left margin of mount, remnants of prior mounting to mount overall verso. Np, circa 1903
