Description: Early American Antiqye Pole Screen. The pole screen was used to protect their face from the open fire. It was made adjustable to accommodate different heights. The pole screen was an object of which the young ladies of the family excercised their skill. Pole screens were made in different sizes and featured needlework decorated fronts. This one features a lace scene of sail boat and flowers.
