Description: Rare Eli Terry Outside Escapement Pillar and Scroll Clock, Plymouth, Connecticut, c. 1817-18, with figured maple, 30 hour wooden movement, weight driven Eli Terry clock. Beautiful full label "Patent/ Invented/Made and Sold By Eli Terry, Plymouth" with wind dates. Very nice reverse-painted glass. Clock face has some loss, diamond shaped hands. 2 brass finials. This is a fine example of early Eli Terry Pillar and Scroll shelf clock with rare outside escapement! Measures approx. 31" tall x 17" wide x 4" deep. Many Eli Terry Clocks which depict a home or building on the reverse painted glass tablet, are actual homes in the Town of Plymouth and surrounding Connecticut towns of the time period.
