Description: Excellent two-page handwritten letter and signature of the Battle of Britain Hurricane pilot WING COMMANDER JAMES GILBERT SANDERS DFC 615 Sqn. Highly regarded as a great fighter pilot he was respected by pilots for most famously falling out with Gp Capt Harry Broadhurst whom he called a"bloody murderer" for sending up and throwing into the battle untrained and inexperienced pilots who quickly perished. Sanders finished the Battle of Britain a high scoring ace with at least 16 confirmed victories, but his courageous outspoken attack cost him promotion and further  deserved decorations. In 1991 the collector met with Wg Cdr Sanders at his home in Wimbledon and found him unrepentant and unembittered. Good condition. All items come with a Certificate of Authenticity and can be shipped worldwide.
