Book Details: From the "Letter to the Secretary" at the front of the volume: "The systematic field investigation of the six rectangles which are included in what is called the Atlas of Colorado was commenced in the spring of 1873, and closed with the season of 1876. These six sheets embrace an area of rugged mountainous country of about 70,000 square miles."
Condition / Notes: This antique volume has a separating rear board. The report is in brown cloth-covered boards, with faded lettering to the spine. The volume displays external wear, with faint moisture markings, fraying to the spine edges, and light bumping to the corners. The binding is cracked at the front hinge, and the text block is cracked. A stamp is present on the rear paste-down, and the endpapers display toning at the edges. This work is internally clean, profusely illustrated with plates, as well as full-page illustrations. A great number of plates fold out, including a large map at the rear, printed in black and blue. Some plates within the text are in color, and some are tissue guarded. Some plates appear to have been excised at the rear. This work contains an index.
