Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751-1843) was a prominent French sculptor and bronzier. He practiced in the neoclassical taste under the reigns of Louis XVI and Napoleon. He received his training in the workshop of Pierre Gouthiere, before establishing his shop in 1776. One of his most notable commissions was the pair of handles he rendered in the figure of ''Fame'' with double trumpets for a massive malachite veneered urn for Count Nicolay Demidoff which currently resides in the Metropolitan Museum.
