Description: 20 January 1921 34 HERAULT. BEZIERS. Action de F500. multicolour. #20000. No 17563. Trimmed bottom right due to coupon cutting. Superb Jugendstil design of a powerful industrial worker and a train. Very colourful piece. The company was originally formed in 1920 to repair railway-rolling-stock. The firm eventually became most noted forthe aircraft it produced at Aire-sur-l'Adour. Many early Fouga designs (from 1936 onwards) are known as 'Castel-Mauboussin’, both aircraft engineers. Fouga's greatest success was the Magister, a jet-powered military trainer aircraft derived from the firm's post-war works on sailplanes. A new plant was established at Toulouse in 1953. Five years later, Fouga was purchased by the Potez aviation firm, today part of Aérospatiale. Extremely attractive piece and scarce - only four pieces have been found(in 2008). Rarity 10.
