Condition / Notes: This is "a new edition" of this work, "with a sketch of the life and times of the author." The antique volume has blindstamped purple cloth covers depicting an angel, with stamped gilt lettering on the spine. There is library notation at the foot of the spine. The exterior shows moderate sunning, rubbing, and chipping/fraying to the spine edges and gutters. The front board and spine cover are separated from the text block, still as one piece with the rear board. The text block is solid. The title page features a vignette of the author. The pages show light age toning and occasional light marginal spotting. The work contains numerous textual illustrations.
