Paris, 29 décembre [1831]-19 octobre 1859. Ens. 72 p. in-12 et in-8 (dimensions diverses), suscriptions et 4 enveloppes.

Correspondance de François Buloz à Alfred de Vigny. Chimiste puis typographe et correcteur d'imprimerie, François Buloz devint, au début de l'année 1831, rédacteur en chef de la Revue des deux mondes qui était encore naissante. C'est lui qui donna à ce périodique l'aura intellectuelle et le succès éditorial que l'on connaît. Alfred de Vigny publia dans la Revue des deux mondes plusieurs de ses œuvres les plus célèbres, Stello (1831-1832), Quitte pour la peur (1833), La Mort du loup (1843), La Maison du berger (1844) ou encore La Bouteille à la mer (1854). La correspondance qu'échangèrent les deux hommes traitent ainsi abondamment de ces œuvres, de questions financières et de la vie littéraire de l'époque : "Je viens d'écrire à Gosselin pour lui témoigner mon mécontentement de ses procédés peu délicats. Il cherche sciemment, car je l'ai déjà prévenu une fois, à nuire à l'effet de Stello dans la Revue. Vous savez qu'il n'a aucun droit sur les Consultations qu'un mois après la publication dans la Revue, et cependant il annonce le livre pour la 2e fois comme prêt à paraître chez lui sans tenir compte de nos conventions. " (23 mars 1832) ; "La Veillée de Vincennes est une histoire charmante et d'une exquise délicatesse ; les dames en raffollent [sic]. Je vous en remercie. " (3 avril 1834) ; "Le succès de La Mort du loup a été plus général encore ; vous devez en être content. C'est un encouragement pour vous de reparaître plus souvent dans la Revue ; il serait bien à désirer que la prose suivît presque immédiatement les vers. " (9 février 1843) ; "Donc, dans la fâcheuse situation où vous me placez et où vous persistez à me laisser, je vous prie de vouloir bien me rendre les 1500 f. que je vous ai avancés depuis plus de seize ans, sauf à vous, bien entendu, à faire ce qu'il vous plaira d'une œuvre que vous avez cédée le 21 mars 1833, sans avoir pu la livrer encore. " (16 avril 1850).
La plupart de ces lettres sont à l'en-tête de la Revue des deux mondes.

Alfred de VIGNY. 1797-1863. Réunion de 5 brouillons et minutes autographes de lettres à François Buloz. [Paris], 14 octobre 1835-28 octobre 1859. Ens. 12 p. in-8. "Je ne veux pas tarder à vous dire que cette composition dont je vous ai parlé ne peut arriver à sa fin pour le 1er septembre comme vous m'en témoignez le désir" (29 août 1842).
On joint en outre un projet de contrat éditorial entre François Buloz et Alfred de Vigny pour "un ouvrage ayant pour titre Souvenirs de servitude militaire" avec de nombreuses corrections et annotations de Vigny ([1er juillet 1834], 2 p. in-8, importante déchirure transversale, sans manque) et une réunion de 9 lettres autographes signées de Félix Bonnaire (1794-1865), associé et bras droit de François Buloz, au poète (2 janvier 1839-21 juillet 1842 ; ens. 11 p. in-8 et suscriptions).
Quelques manques, déchirures et pliures marginaux, certains atteignant le texte. Quelques brunissures et trous d'épingles.
