Description: FRANCE, CIRCA 1800 A fine French figural avian marble and ormolu mantle clock. The clock sits on six turned bronze feet rising into a marble base adorned with a reticulated frieze of birds, florals, and putti surrounding a central relief of Mercury accented by floral side friezes and ormolu beading. The hand painted Arabic numeral dial with quarter minute marks sits on a marble column with a reticulated frieze of an urn accented by an acanthus leaf border. The clock is book ended by a female figure in diaphanous drapery reaching for a birdcage with an adult dove by her side as a putti raises a dove on the opposite side. The bird cage door is operable. The works are unsigned.
Condition Report: Overall good condition. The works are untested, the springs are in good condition, not over wound. Chimes when set on half and hour. Will need to be cleaned and set up. Original pendulum included, no key.
Dimensions: 12" tall by 10" wide by 5" deep.
