Besides public memorial sculptures, Cremer created mainly female nudes and sensual intimate love couples

Condition:
The bronze is in good condition; the underside of the plinth has been rubbed off. The height of the torso is 17.5 cm.

Fritz Cremer (1906-1993)
Fritz Cremer was born in 1906 in Arnsberg, Westphalia. At the age of 20, he joined the Communist ‘Arbeiterjugend’; later, he became a member of the Communist Party of Germany. From 1930-34, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin-Charlottenburg as a master student of Wilhelm Gerstel, followed by two study trips to the Villa Massimo in Rome. During military service, he was in Yugoslavian captivity. After his release, he became a professor of sculpture at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 1950, he moved to East Germany, where he taught at the Academy of Arts, being its Vice President from 1974 to 1984. (cko)
