Description: Ge Xianglan, circa 1958 The Remaining Scent of Lotus hanging scroll ink and colour on paper signed and inscribed image size 82.5cm x 45cm The painting is by a Shanghai artist named Ge Quan (?? second seal), also known as Ge Xianglan (?? first seal). Born in 1904 (1904-1964), he is best known for specialising in painting horses. The calligraphy explains the painting (???? 'the remaining scent of lotus') and states the date when the painting was finished (the characters ?? mean 1958, ? means summer). Ge was working as a professional artist in Shanghai Academy of Chinese Painting in 1958. -1??(1958-)?????????? ?? ??
