Greece, Late Geometric Period, ca. 8th century BCE. Made from a single piece of bronze, a fibulae - item for fastening clothing - with a coiled pin, a rounded, wide arc, and a flattened end for holding the pin. The flattened bronze may once have had incised designs, but these are no longer visible. A delightful article from the University of Pennsylvania in 1964 calls these "Ancient Safety Pins". Size: 2.7" L x 1.65" W x 1.5" H (6.9 cm x 4.2 cm x 3.8 cm)
Provenance: Ex-private East Coast collection.
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

Condition Report: Losses as shown to one end; heavy patina over body. Pin is broken but held in place in a stable manner.
