Description: Artist: CLÉMENTINE-HÉLÈNE DUFAU (1869-1937) Size: 45 1/4 x 31 1/4 in./115 x 79.5 cm Charles Verneau, Paris As the capital of French Indochina had switched from Saigon to Hanoi earlier that year, it seemed natural that the colony's first world's fair would be held there. It would feature exhibitions from the major French colonies as well as other areas of Southeast Asia. While the event proved popular, it would leave the city in financial ruin for nearly a decade.
