More About this Item

Description: 6 January 1918 STEINFORT. 5% Obligation de F500, specimen. buff, black. #30000. The company, with steelworks on the Luxembourg/Belgian border, is now part of the Cockerill/ArcelorMittal organisation. It was formed originally in 1912, to take over the forge business of J.Collart & Cie. The Collart family operated forges at Steinfortsince the beginning of the 19th century, or even earlier. The Collarts, of the Château de Dommeldange, stayed on the board of directors. This company came under the control of the Sté Metallurgique de la Loire, in 1919. In 1921 the shares were passed to the S.A. d'Athus-Guvignés. This merged with the S.A. des Aciéries d'Angleur et des Charbonnages Belges to form the S.A. d'Angleur Athus. In this way it became part of Cockerill. Extremely rare.
