for 1895, with narrow, single blind-fullered straight double-edged 32 1/4in. blade, the squared ricasso with grooved borders and etched proofmark, the reverse signed ''HENRY WILKINSON, PALL-MALL, LONDON'' beneath the Prince of Wales feathers and ''BY APPOINTMENT'' banner, dismountable nickel-plated full basket hilt of typical form (some patchy staining), heavy felt liner with red exterior and buff interior with remains of blue border piping, wire-bound sharkskin grip and bun pommel, complete with its black leather field scabbard with plated mounts, the drag with ball finial.
Other Notes: Wilkinson''s records state that this sword was supplied to military outfitters Messrs. Laughlan, Baker & MacKay of Edinburgh in 1895. We are gratefully indebted to armsresearch.co.uk for verifying this information
