Description: Artist: THEO MATEJKO (1893-1946) Size: 37 1/2 x 24 1/2 in./95.2 x 62.4 cm WEAG, Vienna The writer Marie Eugenie Delle Grazie achieved early fame at age 19, with the publication of her first novel. She would remain unmarried her entire life, focusing instead on socially-critical works that emphasized human freedom and dignity. This nearly-forgotten late novel, Homo: The Novel of an Era, focuses on an orphaned boy from the Polish/Czech city of Homonna, which had been ravaged during World War I. The design of this poster also served as the cover art for the book. (aviation, literary, wwi)
