Description: Irish inlaid mahogany kettle stand/side table, Michael Butler Dublin, late 19th century, oval linenfold inlaid top, tapered legs, base stamped on platform base: M. BUTLER 127, ABBEY ST DUBLIN; H30 1/2" W20 1/2" D13 1/2"

Provenance: Virginia private collection

Other Notes: Michael Butler, from a family of Dublin cabinetmakers, is recorded between 1885­ 1912. His firm specialized in reproducing Irish 18th century mahogany furniture. Some of Butler''s most prestigious commissions were to furnish the Viceregal Lodge in 1903, the Earl of Abercorn, the Earl and Countess of Coventry, the Countess of Clonmell and the Duke and Duchess of Connaught, who bought furniture for Clarence House.

Condition Report: Old repairs. Scratches and scuffs consistent with age and use.
