Book Details: From the preface: "This work is offered as a brief general view of Minnesota, as it existed prior to its organization as a territorial government in 1849, and "as it is" at the present time. As a guide to the immigrant, and the tourist in search of general information and pleasure, it is believed to contain much valuable and interesting knowledge."

Condition / Notes: This antique volume is a first edition, handsomely rebound in half leather, with brown cloth-covered boards and a leather spine label with gilt lettering. The volume shows minimal external wear, with faint vertical cracking at the spine edges. The binding is firm, and the text block displays toning to the outer edge. The endpapers are new. The volume is adorned with a lithograph title page, somewhat foxed, at the top edge of which is a previous owner's signature. A tissue-guarded frontispiece, also displaying foxing, is present. The title and copyright page show a library stamp and blind stamp. Scattered mild foxing is present throughout the interior, and a few very small red ink markings appear in the margins. A fold-out tissue map is present at the rear, displaying some a few closed edge tears.
