Description: Jacques, Émile et Antoni DESCHAMPS 1741-1826, 1791-1871 & 1800-1869 Réunion de trente-deux lettres autographes signées à Alfred de Vigny [Paris, Rome, Versailles, etc. ], 10 juillet 1821-10 septembre 1860. Ens. 62 p. in-12, in-8 et in-folio, (dimensions diverses) et suscriptions. Correspondance des Deschamps à Alfred de Vigny (une lettre de Jacques, 23 d'Émile et 8 d'Antoni dont une comprenant le manuscrit du poème intitulé "À Diego de Léon"). Receveur général de la province du Berry avant la Révolution, Jacques Deschamps de Saint-Amand avait transmis à ses deux fils, Émile et Antoni, sa passion pour les lettres et, plus particulièrement, l'art dramatique. L'aîné, qui fonda en 1823, avec Victor Hugo, La Muse française, fut l'un des premiers et principaux moteurs du mouvement romantique. Le cadet, poète tourmenté, fit de nombreux séjours dans la fameuse clinique du docteur Blanche pour soigner son mal-être. Tous deux furent très proches d'Alfred de Vigny comme le montre notamment la correspondance qu'ils échangèrent pendant une quarantaine d'années. "Non, cher Alfred, personne ne vous oublie, mais tout le monde est fort paresseux. Guiraud vous écrit et vous envoie ses chants. Soumet brode son discours et son habit ; d'Houdetot est plus romantique et plus votre ami que jamais ; Victor fait des odes et des enfans sans se reposer ; tous nos autres nous sont absens ; et moi qui parle j'ai été absent aussi. " (Émile, 30 octobre 1824) ; "Enfin, mon cher Alfred, la Maréchale nous est arrivée avant-hier soir […]. Quel bel ouvrage, cher ami. Quel premier acte où tout est exposé avec une sagacité puissante ! Quelle délicieuse manière de faire regarder et parler la maréchale et Borgia ! Comme tout cela est senti !" (Émile, 6 août 1831 ; Émile Deschamps séjournait alors chez le baron de Croze, près de Brioude, et celui-ci a abondamment complété la lettre de son invité) ; "Je venais vous faire mon compliment sincère et vous dire combien votre belle pièce de vers sur la Maison du berger est grande et touchante. Les chemins de fer y sont admirablement peints, la Rêverie et la Poésie, les Avocat et la Chambre sont très bien et justement dits. C'est votre plus belle poésie philosophique" (Antoni, [vers le 20 juillet 1844]) ; "Vous savez que Mlle d'Angeville aime les ascensions - elle a déjà affronté le sommet du Mont Blanc, et elle veut s'élever encore… elle arrive jusqu'à vous, avec cette feuille sur laquelle elle vous demande quelques vieux vers toujours jeunes signés de vous. " (Émile, 10 septembre 1860).
