Description: A Jalisco San Juanito Style horned toad-dog effigy vessel, West Mexico, c. 100 BC - AD 250, the body rectangular in shape with spikes around the outer edges, matching spike line the rim as well as the top of the animal's head, which is detailed with protruding tongue. An interesting piece with red addition over creme slip. 6 3/4 in x 3 3/4 in (17 x 9.5 cm). Light deposits throughout. Ex-Clifford Baker collection, San Diego, Ca. acquired in the 1960's.
