Commentaire : La poésie des natures mortes florales de Jan Brueghel l''Ancien, sa minutie dans le rendu des différentes essences ainsi que le velouté qu''il savait donner aux délicats pétales et aux feuilles de ses bouquets contribuèrent à lui valoir son surnom de Brueghel de Velours. Formé dans l''atelier de son père et participant même à certaines de ses compositions, Jan Brueghel le Jeune en fut le digne héritier, comme nous pouvons l''observer dans notre séduisante composition.

Reprenant certains des schémas chers à son maître, Jan le Jeune utilise une composition tout en équilibre et en finesse, organisée autour des deux motifs de la corbeille et du vase de fleurs. L''artiste joue ici sur les contrastes en faisant surgir sur un fond noir uni ces fleurs aux multiples couleurs vives, mais aussi en les répartissant dans deux présentoirs bien différents, un simple panier tressé d''une part et un vase translucide d''autre part, comme s''il avait voulu opposer la spontanéité de la cueillette à la complexité de l''arrangement floral. Ces deux contenants sont disposés sur un sobre entablement où apparaissent quelques œillets.
Cette composition à la fois intime et monumentale connut un réel succès et plusieurs versions avec variantes sont aujourd''hui connues. Ces natures mortes étaient en effet l''occasion pour le peintre de mettre en avant sa science et sa virtuosité dans le rendu des différentes fleurs, exercice dont Jan Brueghel le Jeune s''était fait une spécialité. Contrairement aux bouquets réels dont la composition était tributaire des saisons, ces bouquets peints permettaient de marier au gré du pinceau des variétés dont la floraison n''avait pas lieu en même temps. Saisissant chacune de ces fragiles fleurs fraichement écloses à l''apogée de sa beauté, Jan Brueghel le Jeune plonge ici le spectateur dans la contemplation d''une nature idéale patiemment recomposée.

Taxes and VAT: In addition of the lot's hammer price, the buyer must pay the following costs and fees/taxes:

Lots from the EEC:
