Description: Dating back from the Meiji Period, this pair of bronze Japanese candlestick holders are unique in design with rounded shapes and three curled feet that are attached the base. The lower half of the candlestick holders have been adorned with the mythical creature known as a ‘kirin’ that is said to appear with the imminent arrival or passing of a sage or ruler, and is seen as a good omen thought to bring prosperity or serenity.
