Description: JOHN SKEAPING (1901-1980) FOR WEDGWOOD
ASSEMBLED PAIR OF TABLE LAMPS, PRODUCED CIRCA 1927-1950
each formed of a glazed earthenware figure of a kangaroo, mounted on a hardwood stand with light fitting and shade, maker's marks to figures J. SKEAPING/ WEDGWOOD (2)
26cm high (excluding shade)

Condition Report: - kangaroos of slightly different colours, hence they are an assembled pair
The stands are later and the figures are glued in to the stands
The shades, especially the shade for the cream figure is grubby and stained
These figures were made by Wedgwood until 1950 figures post 1940 are marked BARLASTON, the new location of the factory.
Unfortunately it is not possible to remove the figures from their bases to ascertain any additional marks
Lamp One:
- in generally good overall condition
- kangaroo with some fine allover crazing; tips of ears are restored
- hardwood stand with various stains and water marks here and there; a few minor nibbles and nicks to edges and extremities
- chrome upright a little tarnished
- shade in reasonable order, some evidence of use and wear
- general surface dirt and dust

Lamp Two:
- in generally good overall condition
- kangaroo with some areas of fine crazing; a couple of minor firing/glazing blemishes to front edge
- hardwood stand with a couple of hairlines; few minor nibbles and nicks to edges and extremities, and minor water marks
- chrome upright a little tarnished
- shade in reasonable order, some evidence of use and wear
- general surface dirt and dust

Both lamps are glued onto their bases which are associated. They are not drilled, the lamps, lamp shade and fittimgs are supported by a chrome plated column, which in turn emmantes from the base
