Book Details: From the preliminary observations:
We have hitherto had no accounts of Canada written by American travellers [sic] . . . The Author of the following work . . . had no idea of any thing more than a simple narrative of a journey . . . But the composition insensibly assum[ed] a more historical and scientific form.
Condition / Notes: This is the scarce first edition of this work, rebound in a 19th-century deluxe private binding. The antique volume is bound in red half-leather with marbled paper covers and stamped gilt lettering/ornamentation on the spine and covers. There is light rubbing at the edges, gutters, and corners. The front binding is cracked between the front flyleaf and the first blank preliminary. The book is adorned with marbled endpapers. The engraved frontispiece depicts Quebec. The pages show moderate age toning and occasional foxing/smudging.
