Autograph Letter Signed, "Lafayette," to "My dear Sir," in English, sending maps and a narrative of the Yorktown Campaign of 1781 [not present] and requesting that they be returned. 1 page, 8vo, faint scattered foxing, two small seal tears in left margin (not affecting text), docketing on verso, folds. "1st a map of the campaign of 1781 in Virginia
"2ly The plan of the position which on the approach of Count de Grasse I took at Williamsburg. Having under my orders our own American troops and the corps of M[arqu]is de St. Simon of 3000 men, Lord Cornwallis came out to reconnoiter us and declined the attack.
"3ly A short narration of the campaign in Virginia followed by a journal of the siege of York.
"I expected to send you some other plans but I fear they are at Chavaniac . . . ."
