Description: Artist: MAURICE P. VERNEUIL (1869-1942) Size: 20 1/8 x 59 5/8 in./51.2 x 151.6 cm Imp. de Vaugirard, Paris Laurénol was an antiseptic of sorts, available in three varieties around the turn-of-the-century: no. 1, medical; no. 2, a disinfectant; no. 3, for agricultural use. Here, the disinfectant version of the product is being promoted with Grasset-like Art Nouveau organic swirls. There is a stillness about the image, the figure appearing like a priestess solemnly emptying her vessel.
