Description: Artist: PIERRE BONNARD (1867-1947) Size: 16 1/4 x 24 1/8 in./41.2 x 61.2 cm Imp. Chaix, Paris "Bonnard is the most thoroughly idiosyncratic of all the great 20th-century painters," wrote Jed Perl in The New Republic. Though the artist is usually associated with Édouard Vuillard, and produced little 'commercial' work, he met Toulouse-Lautrec early in his career and his work never fails to engage the viewer. This image announces the serialization of a new novel in the pages of Le Figaro. Bonnard's signature is placed, rather oddly, on the back of the man's chair.
Condition Report: A-/ Slight tears at edges.
