Description: MAGNIFICENT ARCHAISTIC GREY JADE CARVING OF A BUFFALO
MING DYNASTY, 16TH/17TH CENTURY
exquisitely carved in the round as a recumbent buffalo with legs tucked under and tail flicked to the side, the head turned towards the viewer with mouth open, the horns, eyes, nostrils and hooves detailed with incised grooves in an archaistic style, the smoothly polished stone of a dark grey tone with russet and icy inclusions
