Description: Unsigned manuscript letter by Thomas Pringle. 4 pp. 7.25" x 4.5". Holly Terrace, Highgate, March 6, 1833. Final page with remnant of archival tape along fold, else Very Good. ******************************** Thomas Pringle (1789-1834) rails against slavery in this personal and engaging letter. Addressed to "My Dear Cunningham" (presumably his good friend Allan Cunningham), Pringle presents what he describes in the final line of the letter as "a long egotistical slavery scribblement for you." Pringle touches on the slave, Mary Prince, "These people are utterly insane - but their day is nearly over. Mark my prediction: Slavery will be extinguished throughout the British dominions before January 1835, and Mary Prince shall go back to her husband..." Written from Holly Terrace - Pringle's final residence.
