Later Italian editions incorporated maritime laws of Italian cities, and the Consolato became in force in the whole mediteranean area, and as supplementary law for Northern European countries. It has exercised influence on maritime legislation in various West European countries, among others on the French 'Ordonnances de la marine' and the 'Code de commerce'. - Kress, 2415; Goldsmiths, 4054.
