Description: 20 May 1931 INDIANA. INDIANAPOLIS. Less than 100 Shares Common. brown, black. No 18642. Allegorical vignette of car-worker and ladies. This company built cars at Indianapolis from 1926 to 1933. The first Marmons appeared in 1902; they were advanced machines, with air-cooled V4 engines. The tradition of large, sophisticated vehicles through to the 1920s, when this company was formed. However, the new company introduced cheaper machines, and sales rose, with 22.300 cars selling in 1929, thanks to a cheap new model at under $1.000, the Roosevelt. This brand-name did not last, and in 1930 appeared as the Marmon R, along with several larger models. The last Marmon was a 9.1 litre model in 1931, and a companion in 1932, but production finished in 1933.
