Description: Artist: JACQUES VILLON (1875-1963) Size: 19 1/4 x 22 in./49 x 55.8 cm This incredible collection perfectly captures an artist's vision from creation to execution. The most important piece in this Lot, of course, is the original drawing by Villon - an evocative design featuring satyrs roasting a bird on a spit alongside nymphs and well-dressed ladies. Also included is the original zinc printing plate for the menu from the Stern printing plant, as well as a published version of the image for a feast celebrating R. de la Morinerie on March 26, 1912. This menu is smaller than the original artwork (6 3/8 x 9 3/4 in./116.2 x 24.6 cm). There is also a receipt of purchase of the image by the Almanach de Gourmand, directed by M. Dumas, who bought this as well as 5 other Villon designs, paying the artist 100 francs.
