The signatures were obtained by Mr. Tatnall Brown on the occasion of the film's March 10, 1961 gala "Anniversary Premiere" at Loew's Grand Theatre in Atlanta commemorating the centennial of the start of the Civil War as well as marking the 25th anniversary of the publication of the book. The Loew's Grand was the venue famous for the original December 19, 1939 world premiere. Brown was a book collector who was Dean of Haverford College (their institutional seal appearing on the present bookplate) and authored a Christopher Morley bibliography.

Also includes Typed Letter Signed, 2 pages (one sheet, folded), addressed to "Mrs. [T.J.] Busey," and dated December 19, 1941 from Atlanta, with original mailing envelope with cancellations, signed "Margaret Mitchell Marsh."
