Chicago, IL, USALive Auction
Description: Navajo double saddle blanket with greek key design, plus! This blanket measures about 34.5" X 53.5". It has wonderful patina and emits that old saying "only if it could talk". It has been used, used hard and put away wet! You can see advanced wear, where the blanket was folded in half and the Cowboy or Native American's legs hung over his/her saddle. This piece has wonderful vibes, great (faded) colors and classic double saddle designs. It also sports black corners (wool). Colored corners are significant and likely relate to something earthy in the Navajo's world. This is not a tourist piece, it was made to be used. You can see the lazy lines, mountains, extra designs in the middle, this one has alot going on. It is in the eye of the beholder most would say that it is used up in poor condition. This cataloger prefers to see the stories it tells and that has value.
Dimensions: 53" X 34"
