Description: This is an antique miniature folk art paint and carved decorated walnut wood dovetailed blanket chest from New England circa 1800s.¾ This miniature blanket chest was handmade in the William and Mary case style construction with traditional Jacobean stain.¾ The miniature blanket chest would have been used on a bureau or chest of drawers to hold jewelry and other small valuables and most likely was¾handmade as a wedding gift.¾ ¾The miniature blanket is handmade of walnut wood with original metal hinges.¾ The sides and bottom of the miniature blanket chest are dovetailed.¾ The top or lid is handmade and pieced, dovetailed and glued together in traditional case fashion.¾ The top and front are carved and heavily decorated in a¾Pilgrim Century style.¾ The miniature blanket chest has carved and scrolled feet attached with miniature braids.¾
