Description: This is an antique hand turned wooden black ash dough bowl with wide Incised collar from New England circa early 1800s for your consideration. This is a quality handmade bowl that was hand turned from a single piece of black ash, which grows in New England in a temperate zone climate. The antique black ash bowl has a large 2 inch wide grooved incised collar and has a flat pedestal resting base! The antique New England dough bowl has rich warm patina with turn lines both on the inside and outside of the bowl. The antique black ash bowl has a beautiful noticeable out of round shape that is typical and signifies a hand turned wooden bowl. Wooden dough bowls were the work horses of the early New England kitchens. This bowl was heavily used from the scarring and stains on the inside of the bowl. The outside of the bowl has a large and wide bee hive shape and with a flat pedestal base on the bottom to rest on. You can see the beautiful wavy grain of the black ash wood.
