Description: This is a Native American Indian potato stamped woven ash splint gathering basket from New England circa 1800s. The potato stamped basket has a double bentwood band rim that is single lashed and a square woven bottom. The ash splints were swabbed with dye and then stamped on alternate wefts with simple designs cut from a potato or top of a cork.
Condition Report: Excellent condition with best potato stamping.
Dimensions: 10 inches long, 9 inches wide and 5 inches high.
