|Your max bid:
(Enter more than $250)
Estimate: $400 - $800
Description: This is a New England Shaker silk handmade duster with hand turned handle circa 1800s for your consideration. The New England Shakers were known for their silk production and the sisters wore silk stockings. The Shaker duster is handmade from the worn silk stockings that were no longer of use. Everything was put to use and nothing was wasted. The Shaker duster was made from strips of the sistersê old silk stockings. The duster was then attached to a hand turned wooden handle and today is as strong as it was when it was made. The wooden handle is decorated with black lacquer paint and a piece of stocking has bee tied on the end for hanging. The Antique Shaker silk duster is solid and firmly wrapped with copper wire making this a rare and exceptional piece. You will look long and hard to find another!
