Description:

Elvis was known to use scarves during his concert performances in the 1970s. The gesture was so popular among fans that the Colonel capitalized on it by creating and selling souvenir scarves with a printed Elvis signature at the shows. It was not uncommon for Charlie or one of the crew to grab some of these souvenir scarves to hand to Elvis during a performance as he would continuously wipe his brow and toss the scarf into the audience.

Offered is a prime example of one of these souvenir scarves from the October 2, 1974 concert at the Civic Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. One lucky fan was able to grab this treasure and has framed the keepsake in a handsome display. The white scarf with blue printed signature is framed with photos of Elvis, a ticket stub from the show and a newspaper article from the local paper that reports the progression of the two-hour, sold-out show, in which the writer begins by describing Elvis as "a glittering sex symbol whose physical presence alone is sufficient to send normally rational women into squealing paroxysms of delight." The article closes by again describing Elvis: "He seemed happiest when he was distributing scarves–of which he had an apparently inexhaustible supply - €“to ecstatic women in the first row."

The fortunate fan who captured this prized souvenir also saved her Souvenir Tour Photo with Elvis in a white rhinestone jumpsuit belting out one of his famous tunes on the front and a map of the U.S. listing the sold-out concert tour venues on the reverse, which is also included. This impressive framed display contains photos of Elvis and an additional two images of Elvis in the Peacock jumpsuit (one color, one black and white) not housed in the display. The framed display measures 19 by 25 inches (48.26 x 63.5 cm) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

Please Note: Also included with the scarf is a detailed and heartfelt letter from the son of the woman to whom Elvis handed the scarf from the stage. (See photo above.)

Condition Report: The scarf remains in like-new condition and had been professionally cleaned and stored rolled prior to being enshrined in the display. Near Mint condition.
