Description: This oil on Masonite artwork was done by Brazilian artist Isolda Hermes Da Fonseca, who lived from 1924 to 2004. It is signed in the lower left corner, and depicts a beautiful woman opposite a vase of flowers. The woman is dressed in the Victorian style and holds a parasol. The artist was well known for her popular adage "The face is the great landscape," and became world-renowned for her romantic, almost lyrical style of painting. She showed her work in more than 30 solo exhibitions spread across six countries and five decades. Including the frame, the dimensions are 33 3/8 inches wide by 45 inches high. Without the frame it is 25 1/2 inches wide by 37 1/2 inches high. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The painting appears to have a repair or water damage in one spot, but is otherwise in good condition. Provenance: From a Virginia estate.
