Lot 112: OLD PHOTOGRAPH NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN & MISC TOWN.
TERRA INCOGNITA Fall Western Cowboy, Native American, Sporting, Advertising, Decoy, Gun, Knife, & Photography Auction
01 November 2016
Chicago, IL, USALive Auction
Description: 6 3/4" by less than 5". NOTE: The photographs with this notice are all old. Note the age patina and discolorations on some of the card-stock that also bleeds onto the photos. However some of these photos on this particular card-stock appear to be very old bootlegs or photographs of photographs. Sometimes in the old west, city photographers or those photographers not willing and or able to travel to get the good ole photographs, took photographs of other photographers works. Yes it was illegal and when caught the perpetrator suffered the consequences. So there are not many of these old bootlegged photos around. In fact there are very few of these types of old photos in existence today, so very collectible. They are old and period. These photographs are on their original old card-stock being about 5" X 7", the actual approximate size of the photo is listed above in the description. It would appear that the photographer that took these photos of photos did in fact take some original photos himself. It appears that the city or village views could be his original photographs. These are all likely sometime between 1890 to the turn of the century plus or minus a few years. Caveat Emptor.
