Folds and some water staining at the right side, hardly touching the printed border. Printed in Zürich, suggesting Swiss capital. Border-vignettes of mining and an oilfield. Probably mined for copper and manganese. The country of issue is given as the Transcaucasian Republic ; this is the only share we know with this reference. After the Russian revolution in 1917, several parts of the Tsarist Empire declared themselves independent. TheCaucasus was one of these, and it took this name. However, by the early 1920s, the new Red Army had reconquered all these areas and incorporated them in the new Soviet Union ; the Transcaucasian republic was no more.
