Description: Artist: EMIL CARDINAUX (1877-1936) Size: 35 7/8 x 50 1/8 in./91.2 x 127 cm Wolfsberg, Zürich Cardinaux had a special talent for creating landscapes that could easily pass for fine paintings. He never lost that painterly touch in all of his graphic work, this particular piece for the Palace Hotel in St. Moritz being possibly the best example of it. While quite simple, we are able to feel the vastness of the area, the breathtaking Alpine landscape so large yet so far away. The trees on the mountains, represented solely by hatch marks, are in shadow, a cool breeze passing over the languid golfing party as they nibble at their picnic. (golf)
