Small bookseller's label to rear pastedown. *************************************** Scarce limited editions from this private press. "The Pazifische Presse, a small private press in Los Angeles, published a series of eleven books between 1942 and 1948. They are carefully produced volumes by writers who, having been forced to emigrate from Germany after 1933, found refuge in Southern California... Although the Pazifische Presse was the most significant example of German Bibliophily in exile and the sole German exile publishing project on the West Coast, its history today remains little known" (Sternfeld, Tiedemann, 103)
